A TEACHABLE MOMENT!

John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

According to I Timothy 2:5 there is only one mediator between God and man“…the man Christ Jesus.” Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Salvation is through the LORD Jesus Christ and Him alone!

Now begins the great journey of life in the flesh for the Christian.

II Peter 3:18, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ…” God’s plan is for His children to grow after their second birth. God does not say how much the growth should be or how fast the growth should be, He just simply says “grow.”

Matthew 5:48, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” God is admonishing his children to be maturing with the Heavenly Father as their comparison and not each other.

There is only one way to be saved and only one way to live after salvation. How far you have traveled down that one way path or how fast you have traveled after salvation is not the issue. The issue is the traveling on the one way in the right direction on the right path.

One may be at the same point on his journey as I, but if he is going the wrong way on the one way, then I must not go with him or aid him. He may be further down the one way than I, but if he is going the wrong way on a one way I again must not go with him or aid him.

I would suggest you read chapter 23 of my book WHEN PRINCIPLE WAS KING of The Principle of Inclusivism. Dr. Jack Hyles was always looking for men who were further away from where he was, but who were moving in the right direction and it was not the distance but the direction that made the difference in his associations.

Recently I published a picture on my BLOG of one of our TEXAS BAPTIST COLLEGE young men helping an area local Baptist Church through the TBC Internship program. There was a drum set in the back of the picture and wow did I ever hear about it!

My friend, this dear local pastor asked for our help and he is traveling the same direction. He may not be as far down the road as he or I would like, but he is headed in the right direction. There is a real world out there and young men need to be insulated not isolated and accept the fact there are those on the one way going the wrong way and have discernment about them.

I wonder if the drum set should have drowned out the 3 who made professions of faith whose pictures were in the forefront? We need to be careful in our assessment.  If it had been a “wet bar” in the background I would be concerned. A drum set is not sinful in and of itself. It is a tool that can be used in a sinful manner. I do not prefer them in a church service, but I do prefer the heart of a pastor who is teachable and is “growing in grace.”

If it were an issue of “doctrine” that would be different, but this is an issue of “direction.” I will not run with nor aid the non-inspired King James Bible crowd, for they my friend are going the wrong way on a one way street. They say they “use only the King James Bible,” but so do the Mormons.

I will aid those who own a drum set while headed in the right way on a one way who are doctrinally sound. GOTTA LOVE HELPING THOSE HEADED IN THE RIGHT WAY ON THE ONE WAY!
