TO WITNESS ONLY WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS
Matthew 28:19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
The Holy Spirit will guide God’s children in soul winning in an unseen manner to know whom to speak to about the Gospel if we obey and speak to every creature. Most of the time it is simply them crossing our path with an opportunity to witness.
The truth is the Holy Spirit does lead us, but not in the way some people believe. I go as far as the individual will let me go. No one made me trust Christ for I wanted to trust Christ at age 11. No conviction…no conversion! We are looking for people who want to be saved. That desire does not come because of the flesh it comes because of the Holy Ghost of God.
We are in the Scriptures commanded to go soul winning, to witness to all nations. We are told in the Scriptures to witness to every creature.
When I go soul winning I always stop the first person I see. I go from person to person. Doors do not get saved. You can knock on 15 doors without any one being home and fail to present the Gospel. You can spend 15 hours out knocking on doors and not talk to one person.
John 6:63, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
John 12:32, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
When I go soul winning I am lifting up Jesus Christ as the only Saviour by lifting up the incorruptible Word of God. (I Peter 1:23)
God promises to draw all men, but that does not mean he will make them trust Christ. God is saying he will “draw.” I go, I present the Gospel via the Scriptures and God the Holy Spirit “draws.”
THE ERROR OF “JUST THE BIBLE IS ENOUGH”
Acts 8:30-31, “And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readiest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.”
Notice the Scripture especially the words, “except some man should guide me.”
The Ethiopian was asked by Philip if he understood what he was reading. He replied that he could not understand unless some man should guide him. The Word of God is not enough.
This man was reading the best part of the Bible that was available then to deal with salvation. He was reading the clearest book of that Bible concerning salvation. He was in the clearest chapter of that book concerning salvation. He was reading the clearest part of that chapter concerning salvation, and YET he needed someone to guide him.
Psalm 126:6, “He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”
The falling away, coldness, and deadness starts when soul winning stops. This verse says “he”…”goeth forth”…”weepeth”…”bearing precious seed”…”shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”
When you remove the “he”…you will remove “goeth forth”…then you will remove “weepeth.” When we stop confrontational evangelism or soul winning, it will not take long for the burden to pass.
