SEEK TILL YOU FIND IT

Luke 15:4, 8, “What man of you, having an hundred sheep,
if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness,
and go after that which is lost, until he find it? Either what woman having ten
pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the
house, and seek diligently till she find it?
The Scripture does not say how long the shepherd sought the
sheep. It just says he sought till he found it. It may have been an hour or a
half a day. However, it does say until he found it! It may have been an entire
day. How long I don’t know! However, I do know it was until he found it. It may
have been for a week. I don’t know, but it was until he found it.
The Bible gives us no idea how long he sought but he had one
sheep that was gone and he left the 99, not safely in the fold as the song
says, but left them in the wilderness to seek the one lost sheep till he found
it.
The Bible does not say how far he went to find the one lost
sheep. He may have found him within a few feet. I don’t know but he sought till
he found it. He may have had to travel a few hundred yards. I don’t know but he
sought it until he found it. He may have had to travel a mile. I don’t know but
he sought until he found it. He may have had to travel ten miles to find the
one lost sheep. The Bible doesn’t say but he sought until he found it.
The Bible doesn’t say how dangerous it was as he sought the
one lost sheep. Nothing is said of the danger in his search for the lost sheep
in the Bible. Maybe he had to fight off some lion. I don’t know, but he sought
it until he found it. The Bible doesn’t say whether he had to kill a bear but
the Bible does say he sought the lost sheep until he found it. The Bible
doesn’t say whether he had to kill serpents, but the Bible does say he sought
the lost sheep until he found it. The Bible doesn’t say he had to fight some
robbers along the way. I don’t know, but the Bible does say he sought it until
he found it.
The Bible doesn’t say where he found the lost sheep. We don’t
know, but the Bible does say he sought the lost sheep until he found it.
How long will it take the shepherd boy? I don’t know, but I
know he is going to keep going until he find it. Where will he find the lost
sheep? I don’t know, but I know he is going to keep going until he find it. How
long is the journey for the shepherd boy? I don’t know, but I know he’s going
to keep going until he finds the lost sheep. How far will he have to travel to
find the lost sheep? I don’t know, but I do know that he will keep going until
he find the lost sheep. Ok, how dangerous will it be for the shepherd boy? I
don’t know, but I know he is going to find that lost sheep.
I can hear shepherd now! “I’m going to go till I find that
lost sheep! I’m gong to stay out until I find the lost sheep! I’m going to
struggle until I find the lost sheep! I’m going to go again until I find that
lost sheep! I’m going to sacrifice until I find that lost sheep! I’m going to
pay whatever price there is to pay until I find the lost sheep!
The same thing is said about the lady who lost the coin. It
does not say how long it took her to find the coin. It does not say whether it
took ten minutes or ten hours but the Bible does say she sought until she found
it. It may have been an hour or a day but I do know she sought until she found
it. It does not say how hard it was but it does say she sought it until she
found it.
The real issue is she searched until she found the lost coin.
It may have been a week, a month, or a year but the Bible does say she searched
until she found it. It does not say how many rooms there were in the house. It
may have been a one-room house or a ten-room house. She may have found it
quickly I don’t know but I do know she sought the lost coin until she found the
lost coin. The Bible does not say how long it was for the searching or how
difficult it was. The Bible simply says that she sought until she found it.
Hey, that might make a pretty good life’s verse? When you
start something keep on until you find it. You are looking for something keep
on till you find it. Are you seeking something keep on seeking until you find
it.
It was said of Winston Churchill that he was an iron peg
anchored in frozen ground. Abraham Lincoln said, “Hold firm as chains of
steel.” When John Morley came to America he said this as he left, “I saw two
unstoppable forces in Niagara Falls and Theodore Roosevelt.” Bob Jones Sr. use
to say, “The test of character is what it takes to stop you.”
Keep on looking till you find it. Keep on searching till you
find it. Keep on working until you find it. Keep on laboring until you find it.
Keep sacrificing till you find it.
80% of all the ministerial volunteers never make it to the
pulpit. How long will it take is not the concern. The concern is will you seek
till you find it. How far is not the issue. The issue is will you seek till you
find it. How dangerous is not the problem at hand. The problem at hand is, are
you willing to keep on until you find it. Where will it be found is not the
question to be answered. The question to be answered is, are you willing to
keep on until you find it.
Purpose to find it, to get it, to lay hands on it, or to come
back with it. Seek till you find it! “Lady you’ve lost your coin. What are you
going to do?” I can hear her now, “Sir, I’m going to go find it. Where, I don’t
know! How long, I don’t know! How far, I don’t know! How many rooms, I don’t
know! However, I do not I will not quit until I find the lost coin.”
“I’m going to seek till I find it! If it takes a year I’ll
find it. If it takes a decade I’ll find it. If it takes a lifetime I’ll find
it. Seek till you find it! I’m not coming back without the lost sheep! I’m not
coming back with out the lost sheep!”
25% of my freshmen college class was told they would
graduate. That meant that 75% would not graduate! Shocking! However, I made up
my mind that I would seek until I found it. How long will it take? I didn’t
know but I knew I would seek until I found it. How hard would it be? I didn’t
know but I did know that I would seek until I found it. How many years? I
didn’t know but I knew I would keep on seeking until I found it.
The last of the stories in this chapter has to do with the
prodigal son. Doesn’t it make sense that if we will seek until we find a lost
sheep and a lost coin that how much more valuable is a lost son. God is saying
shame on you when you will seek until you find possessions but wont seek until
you find that lost soul.
GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!
