AMAZING GRACE!

GOD’S GRACE

Colossians 4:18, “The salutation by the hand of me Paul.
Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen,”
II Timothy 1:2, “To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace,
mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Titus 1:4, “To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and
peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.”
II John 3, “Grace be with you, mercy and peace, from God the Father, and from the
Lord Jesus Christ, and the Son of the Father, in truth and love.”
So often in the Scriptures you
will find grace and mercy or mercy and grace being used together. Mercy and
grace are not the same thing.”
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus
Grace that is greater then all our sins
Mercy is God not giving us what
we deserve. Grace is God giving us what we do not deserve. No place in the
Bible do you find anyone who cries to God “Have grace on me!” However, over and
over in the Bible you will find people crying out to God “Have mercy on me!”
What does it mean? Mercy is when
God brings us back to where we were. Grace is when God give us bonuses and
takes us above where we were.
Romans 5:20, “Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin
abounded grace did much more abound.”
Mercy brings you back to where
you were and grace takes you beyond where you were. God does not send us to
Hell and that is mercy. God does not bring us back to earth he takes us on to
Heaven and that is grace.
We had an innocent body tainted
by sin and we fell. God did not bring us back just to the body that was
innocent in the Garden of Eden. God goes beyond that and gives us a perfect
body like the body of Jesus Christ. Mercy would have given us a body like Adam
and Eve possessed. Grace gives us a body like the body of Jesus has.
Mercy saves us from Hell. Grace
takes us to Heaven. The thief on the cross-asked for mercy, “Remember me when
thou comest into thy kingdom.” Jesus’ answer was I’ll do better than that I’ll
take you right now into Paradise with me!
John 3:14-16, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the
wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life”
We deserve Hell but if we trust
Christ as our Saviour we can have mercy and miss Hell. Grace is not that which
spares us from Hell for grace is that which takes us to Heaven.
John 5:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth
on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
I Peter 4:10, “As every man hath received the gift, even
so minster the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of
God.”
The word “manifold” is only used
about six things in the Bible. “Manifold” means “all kinds.” That means there
all kinds of grace that God give to us. Only six times is the word “manifold”
placed in front of in the Bible.
·
Manifold
sins (All kinds of sin)
·
Manifold
works of God (All kinds of works)
·
Manifold
temptations (All kinds of temptations)
·
Manifold
wisdom of God (All kinds of wisdom)
·
Manifold
mercies of God (All kinds of mercies)
·
Manifold
grace of God (All kinds of grace)
There are many different forms of
the grace of God. God has given to his children many things that we do not
deserve. The manifold mercies of God means that God has NOT given us many
things that we do deserve. The manifold grace of God then means there are all
kinds of things we did not deserve that God gives us.
There are so many things that God
does that takes us beyond where we are. Jesus died to give us more things than
we lost.
Romans 5:21, “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through
righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Mercy says you will never have to
go to Hell. Grace says you can go to Heaven. Where sin did abound grace did
much more abound which means grace is all bonus. Mercy is the regular salary or
pay. Jesus paid it all. Jesus died to give you mercy but now he comes along and
says I’m going to take you beyond where you were.
Adam sins and Adam falls! Mercy
brings Adam back to where he was while Grace takes Adam above where he was.
Grace is a bunch of bonuses. God gave his children more than we deserve because
we accepted Jesus’ payment for our sins.
SALVATION IS ONE OF THOSE MANIFOLD GRACES

Salvation is not just being saved
from Hell. The word “salvation” simply means “salvage.” For my grace we are
salvaged through faith. The mercies of God save you from Hell while your
salvaged by the grace of God.
After the war C46’s and C47’s
were converted into the DC3 airplane. That which was used for warfare was now
salvaged and used for peacetime. Every Wednesday morning we put out our used
newspapers and those papers are recycled or salvage. Not only did Jesus die to
keep us from going to Hell, which is mercy, but also by his grace he makes us
useable and useful. It is a shame some have only accepted the mercy of God.
One of God’s manifold graces is
that he saves us or salvages us and makes us useable. Mercy saves us from Hell.
Grace is where he salvages us to make a preacher, a choir director, a bus
captain, a youth director, a piano player, a user, a bus director, a Sunday
school teacher, or a choir member.
God’s mercy does not let you go
to Hell and God salvages your soul and goes beyond just keeping you out of
Hell. By God’s grace he salvages our lives and we end up co-laborers with God
himself.
Will a person go to Hell listed
to bad music? No, but you’ll have to go to Hell to listen to it! Will a person
go to Hell for going to Hollywood movies, smoking, or drinking? What kind of
Christianity is that? There is so much more to salvation. The salvaging of the
soul by God’s mercy is a whole lot more to it. God is salvaging you so you can
be a co-laborer with God himself and that is grace.
God gives us a bonus and that
bonus is I’m going to make you a co-laborer, a Sunday school teacher, a Sunday
school Superintendent, a bus captain, an usher, a deacon, a choir member, a
pianist, an organist, or a preacher.
JUSTIFICATION IS ONE OF THOSE MANIFOLD GRACES

Romans 3:24, “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in
Christ Jesus.”
Titus 3:7, “That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according
to the hope of eternal life.”

By his mercy he has forgiven us
of all our sins but he give us a bonus. He takes our sins off of our record and
it looks like we have never sinned at all. His mercy says he will bring you
back where you were but Adam was not justified until he trusted Christ as his
personal Saviour and that is grace.
Grace did not deliver you from
Hell but you go to Heaven by grace. You were not forgiven by grace but you were
forgiven my mercy. You were not justified by mercy rather you were justified by
grace.
MANIFOLD GRACE-ACCEPTED OF THE BELOVED IS ONE OF THOSE GRACES

Ephesians 1:6, “To the praise of the glory of his grace,
wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
Mercy brings me back into God’s
presence. Grace takes me beyond that into the  “beloved.” Mercy brings us back to God. Grace takes us above
that and puts in God.
Do we have any idea of whom we
are speaking to when we pray? He is the creator of the universe, Jehovah God,
Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient! The God who made Dr. Lee Roberson, Dr.
Jack Hyles, D. L. Moody, Spurgeon, John Rice, etc. The same God says you can
have permanent access to his presence. You are by his grace in the beloved.
God could have just as easily
saved you from Hell and let you flounder through life but God said not only am
I going to save you from Hell by my mercy but also I’m going to by grace put
you in the beloved with constant access to me!
PRAYER IS ONE OF THOSE MANIFOLD GRACES

Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the
throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to helping time of
need.”
If the Queen of England called
you and asked you to come to Buckingham Palace you would be awed for sure by
the invitation. The king of the universe, God of gods, Jehovah God, the lily of
the valley, the fairest of 10,000, the bright and morning star, and the God who
sustains the whole universe is accessible because of his grace.
THE BIBLE IS ONE OF THOSE MANIFOLD GRACES

God could have saved you from
Hell and never have been compelled to give you a copy of the Scriptures his
Holy Word. God did not have to give you his words. You and I could have been
saved from going to Hell and left without any instructions for life.
God said by his mercy he would
keep you from going to Hell but by his grace he gives you something you did not
have his Bible of instructions for life. The Bible is a bonus and this is
grace. Jesus did more than die to buy back all that Adam lost.
·
God’s
grace salvaged us
·
God’s
grace justified us
·
God’s
grace made us the accepted of the beloved
·
God’s
grace gave us prayer
·
God’s
grace gave us his Bible
God’s children ought to shout
because God did not give us what we deserved and because God gave us what we
did not deserve! Mercy and grace!
ETERNAL SURPRISE PACKAGES-
ONE OF THOSE MANIFOLD GRACES

Ephesians 2:7, “That in the ages to come he might shew the
exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.”
Here we were on our way to Hell
and God wants to save us from Hell and that is mercy. God extends his mercy and
man accepts the mercy of God. He then gives us grace or bonuses.
God has perennial eternal bonuses
to give us. God has given us his word by grace, prayer by grace, to be apart of
the beloved by grace, justification by grace, and salvaging by grace. God also
says forever I will eternally be giving you surprise packages of bonuses of
things I did not have to give you! Manifold grace of God!
SOUL WINNING IS ONE OF THOSE MANIFOLD GRACES

Ephesians 2:8-10, “For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man
should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Adam was saved from going to Hell
and that was mercy. God says to Adam, “You have fallen because of sin. I died
to get you back and that was mercy. Adam helps me tell other fallen men of my
mercy!” That is grace! God gives the redeemed a bonus of helping him win souls
to him. That is God’s grace to us!
God does not need us to spread
the Gospel. God through his grace has given us the bonus of soul winning.
II Corinthians 5:18, “And all things are of God, who hath
reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of
reconciliation.”
Thank God we who are saved are
not going to Hell and that is mercy but thank God we can keep others out of
Hell by soul winning and that is grace!
JOBS GIVEN TO US IN THE LOCAL CHURCH ARE A PART OF MANIFOLD GRACE

I Corinthians 12:7, “But the manifestation of the Spirit is
given to every man to profit withal.”
Galatians 1:15, “But when it pleased God, who separated me
from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace.”
The purpose of the gifts of the
Holy Spirit is to have the local church work as unit to get the Gospel to the
unsaved. Someone has to be the pastor, fix the buses, usher, play the piano,
play the organ, cut the grass, lead the youth, teach Sunday school, sing in the
choir, work the altar, type the letters, or be the bookkeeper.
God did not have to do one single
thing listed. God would still be right and righteous if he had never given us
his mercy let alone his grace. He keeps us out of when he did not have to and
that is mercy.
All ten of the things listed have
nothing to do with going to Hell. These are the manifold grace of God.
BEING ABLE TO BEAR BURDENS IS A PART OF MANIFOLD GRACE
II Corinthians 12:9, “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient
for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore
will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon
me.”
Mercy keeps us from going to
Hell. Grace gives us something extra and that is help with our burdens.
WHATEVER WE ARE IS A PART OF HIS MANIFOLD GRACE

I Corinthians 15:10, “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and
his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more
abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
All of us deserve to burn in Hell
forever and if all that God did was keep us out of Hell by his mercy that would
be more than we deserve. However, God loves us and he enjoys giving to us
things we do not deserve to have.

When you love you give and when
you love you keep on giving. Jesus did not die to give you the Bible. He died
to keep you out of Hell. God could have stopped with mercy! God loves us so
much that he gives us bonuses and continues to give us bonuses for eternity.
GOTTA LOVE THE GRACE OF GOD!
