TRIP TO THE DOCTOR

Billy trusted Christ
This morning I drove Mrs. Gray to Tyler for her pre-op appointment. She will be having surgery Monday at noon. We will be leaving the house at 9 am to travel to the hospital. Her pump needs to be repaired and she will have to spend the night at the hospital. She has not slept in a week and is miserable! Thank the Lord though last night she did sleep all night for the first time in a week.

While I was waiting for Mrs. Gray to complete her pre-op work I was on my computer working on a new book on LEADERSHIP. The man sitting next to me asked how it was that I could type so fast. We struck up a conversation and he then asked what I was working on. I told him I was a retired pastor who still preached on the weekends and also writing books.

After a 15 minute conversation I asked him if he knew for sure that if he were to die that he would go to Heaven. He answered, “No!” I opened my Bible and started with I John 5:13. I then carefully went through the Scriptures to show his need of a Saviour to pay for all of his sins. He asked several great questions and then bowed his head and prayed to trust Christ to pay for his sins. WOW! He thanked me and I gave him some assurance verses. GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!

One of my latest books is entitled “THE DOCTRINES OF SALVATION.” I utilized the word “DOCTRINES” plural instead of “DOCTRINE” singular on purpose. In that book I point out that there is so much that occurred that we as the redeemed were totally unaware of that did happen to secure our salvation. When I walk into a room and flip the light switch on it is by faith.  I do it believing the lights will automatically turn on! Can I explain all that happened to cause it? Absolutely not! Anyone can flip that switch and the lights will turn on without understanding all  the intricacies of the knowledge of electricity.

Titus 2:11, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.” I wonder if that includes Old Testament people who were unaware of all that was written in the New Testament to provide edification and growth? I wonder if they were saved the same way New Testament people were saved?

Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hummmm?

Romans 4:3, “For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” Did he understand all that was behind the scenes or what was to happen in the future that made salvation possible? Absolutely not!

Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Does this mean there must be complete comprehension of everything that makes salvation effectual by the one who calls? No! It means the Lord does the work and man does the trusting! Simple faith in Christ for all.

John 21:25, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not the books that should be written. Amen.” It is the righteousness of Jesus Christ God’s Son that will be on the record of the redeemed in Heaven that will allow the redeemed to enter into Heaven. Does any redeemed human being have knowledge of all that Jesus’ righteousness entails? I think not! By the way this would include especially those alive in Bible times for they did not have the complete canon of Scriptures.

I fear too much Bob Jones University influence hath made thee mad?
