HAPPY NEW YEAR! I trust you and yours had a wonderful and blessed 2012. God has been so good to all of us. We live in the greatest nation on the face of the earth. I am proud to be an American!
As God’s children we have the Holy Spirit living in our bodies, we have the Holy Scriptures to feed our souls with, we have freedom to preach the Gospel, we have a local church to serve through, we have a family who serves God, we have our heavenly Father to whom we can come boldly in prayer, we have a family of believers to serve, and a world in need of our SAVIOUR!
2012 WAS A GREAT YEAR TO SERVE
I have dozens of New Testaments where I record names and numbers of those whom God allows me to lead to His Son for salvation. I have kept records since 1976 in those New Testaments. I am grateful to be able to be a part of God’s work in reaching the unsaved with the Gospel.
I am 67 and in my 56th year of being saved. I am ashamed to say that the first 15 years of my salvation I led only one person to Christ. It was not until I came under the influence of the ministries of Dr. Jack Hyles and Dr. John R. Rice was I challenged to win souls. The good news is that the one person I led to Christ was my future wife Lee Ann.
Our local church has the great commission and we as individual saved members have the great command to spread the Gospel.
At the end of each year I total up the stats and relive many opportunities for which God brings across my path those who have a desire to trust Christ.
Since coming to Texas in 1980 God has allowed me to preach 26,310 sermons, lead 16,218 to Christ, and have 4,715 of those follow the LORD in baptism.
In 2012 God gave me 408 precious souls for salvation and 100 of those followed the LORD in baptism. GOTTA LOVE SOUL WINNING!
John 12:32, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
I have assurance from God’s Word that if I, or anyone, will lift up Jesus Christ before one lost person or a lost and dying world He will draw that one or all men.
This does not mean that everyone will trust Christ, but it does mean that the Holy Spirit will do His work and “draw.” The more I lift up Christ the greater the potential of folks trusting Christ. Like it or not it is a matter of numbers.
Titus 2:11, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.”
God promises to bring the opportunity for salvation to every soul at least ONE time in their life. Our responsibility is to give the Gospel to them a second time, a third time, a fourth time, a fifth time, etc.
John 20:21, “…even so send I you.”
GOTTA LOVE THE OLD TIME RELIGION!
